Tire Business: Goodyear Making Big Strides with Soybean Oil

Goodyear continues to pioneer new frontiers in both tire and non-tire technology through the use of an ubiquitous and environmentally friendly material: soybean oil.

Over the last four years, soybean oil transitioned from the research and development stage to the commercialized forefront, replacing petroleum-based oils in many of Goodyear’s premium tire brands. According to Robert Woloszynek, chief engineer of polymer science for Goodyear, in Tire Business, this development came through “tremendous collaboration” with the United Soybean Board. He went on to cite USB’s promotion of these new Goodyear products and the checkoff’s commitment to finding new applications for soybean oil.
