It’s a fact. More than 98 percent of domestic soybean meal is consumed by livestock and poultry. Consumption by livestock and poultry drives soybean meal demand in the United States. The United Soybean Board funds trait-enhanced soybean research to produce a low-phytate soybean that reduces phosphorus excreted by animals fed soybean meal and therefore reduces an environmental concern of phosphorus pollution.
